Jason Younis y Delgado
Our mid-January workshops on Hispanic tinsmithing were a real treat! Master tinsmith Jason Younis y Delgado provided the background lecture and demonstrated how he creates his traditional tin work. Jason learned the craft from his grandmother.
Artist/art teacher Bethe Sailer taught the volunteers how to do a similar project with children using kid-friendly 36 gauge aluminum tooling foil. It’s always amazing to me that many local children don’t know about this uniquely New Mexican art form. Maybe more will consider carrying on the tradition after learning more from an Art in the School volunteer.
